Tom Begich Listens!
About 60 people chatted with Tom Begich on Wednesday, December 3, in the Turkey Red banquet room. All attendees had a chance to speak and explain their perspectives on what is happening in Alaska. Themes centered around the erosion of public services in Alaska over the past 30 or so years. Tom listened carefully and responded to each concern, often with ideas/solutions he had considered or advocated in his many public service roles. Frequently, he refuted the idea that we could not afford good health care, renewable energy, education, maintenance of our assets. In fact, he specifically listed about $500,000,000 that recent administrations/legislatures had left on the table. For example, Hillcorp does not pay taxes on the properties they bought from BP. (Rob Yundt tried to fix that in the recent session.) Tom has both ideas and solutions. He is committed to working with everyone to make Alaska better.
*** NOTE - Tom will be the guest speaker at the February 27, 2026 Egan Dinner.
